how to check domain availability

1. type the name you want. you can leave out the extension: plantpal and plantpal.com check the same name.
2. as you type, extensions where the name is already registered show as taken, and the others say checking while we confirm them.
3. once confirmed, each extension shows register, premium or taken.
4. press register to go to the registrar with the domain filled in. you see the price there before you pay.

what each availability status means

register

the domain was available when we checked. click it to go to the registrar.

premium

it can be registered, at a higher price than a standard domain.

taken

someone has registered it.

not confirmed yet. it changes to one of the above in a moment.

not checked

we could not confirm it this time. check again later.

when the domain you want is taken

• check other extensions. the same word can be available on .dev or .app and taken on .com.
• add a short word such as get, try or use, and check again.
• keep it short. a name under twelve letters is easier to type, say and remember.
• say it out loud once. if you have to spell it for someone, they may mistype it.
• skip hyphens and digits unless they are part of the name.
• see what others registered with your word lately. DomainKits shows new registrations from the last 60 days by keyword.
